So it started with a Blind. When we first moved in Thomas had nothing but an old blackout curtain at his window hooked up on the old blind fixings as the blind to his room was so thick with tar and nicotine that when we tried to wash it it just disintegrated.

So Granny took him around the shops to buy a blind almost as soon as the wall separating the big room into 2 rooms again and he chose this one.

So then when the week after he got this someone offered me some left over New York wall paper he was stoked and decided he was having New York themed bedroom.

So he had some paper but we got so, e other samples anyway knowing we would have to buy more it seemed to make sense to ensure he preferred that one over the others.

So after the first trip to B&Q he came home with 3 other samples and we taped them to the wall for him to live with for a while to decide which he preferred.

Then it was a case of us finding time when Emily could go to stay with Nanna.

So when Nanna and grandad came to help move the kitchen cupboards was perfect timing they took Emily back with them on the Sunday and Monday we planned how much paint we would need.
Tuesday morning before Funways we went to B&M and brought papering stuff, gloss for the door frame and skirting boards, he brought a dark grey for the wall and a light grey for the inside of the door, wall stickers of the New York skyline and a sign that says New York, a New York collapsible box with lid and quilt cover set.

Then after Funways we started to Empty his room and remove all removable fixtures, took out old wall plugs left by old owner and filled the holes up. I demonstrated how to do it and then left the children to it.

They did it all including the big hole where the poorly measured built-in wardrobe didn’t fit so they decided to take chunks out of the walls.

It was then left until the next Morning. So Wednesday morning they started by sorting food for us making lunch and tidying up downstairs we then headed upstairs and closing all the doors we sanded the walls and newly filled holes then washed the walls with Sugar Soap solution.

We then painted the windowsill and placed masking tape where needed. I then demonstrated how to cut in and load the roller with paint and then left them too it while I pained the door frame doing all the gloss work.

We then left it to dry while we cleaned up and washed all the rollers, trays, paint cans floor and of course cleaned the bathroom after the big clean up. Moved all the paint cans downstairs in the porch ready to be returned into the shed put all spare tools away clean and tidy and had some dinner.

We then put on his wall stickers and planned where his pictures were going to go.

We then put thomas’ room back together again, laid and hoovered his carpet, put his shelf back on the wall, removed masking tape, put his bed back up, brought in all his toy cupboards and chest of draws etc.
